In the market for a new Star Wars mobile game? Well you're in luck! EA have announced a new strategy game, Star Wars Rise To Power.
Lucasfilm and EA announced today Star Wars: Rise to Power, an upcoming mobile strategy game set in the Star Wars universe. While specific details and a release date are yet to be revealed, Android users on Google Play can sign up to play the Closed Pre-Alpha Test. If you qualify, you’ll get to play the game and provide feedback. Visit the registration page and sign up.
Players will "form or join an alliance and engage in epic galactic warfare with other players from around the world in the hopes of emerging victorious." EA said in a statement. Power in the game is earned by outwitting adversaries in orchestrated attacks, by building a mighty coalition through the loyalty of other players.
It sounds like an incredible title, especially for a mobile game. The social aspect has us worried a little bit as we can already smell the "pay to win" model forthcoming. Hopefully we're wrong.
No release date or any other information was released at the time of this writing, but Android users can sign up for an exclusive Google Play beta that will be happening soon. There is no guarantee if you sign up that you'll be allowed in, as with most betas, but if you want to get a chance at it before release it looks like this may be your only option.
"In Star Wars: Rise to Power, players embrace destiny by engaging in diplomacy or deception to ultimately become a leader of the Empire or New Republic."
Star Wars: Rise to Power will release "soon" on mobile devices.
