The ongoing campaign to see video game music recognised in Classic FM's annual Hall of Fame has had a bumper Easter, as twelve tracks made the station's all-time top 300.
Three of those were in the top 20: Grant Kirkhope's score to Banzo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts, Jeremy's Soule's work on The Elder Scrolls series, and Nobuo Uematsu's scores to the Final Fantasy series. The latter, represented by the excellent Return to Zanarkand after two years of Aerith's Theme, was ranked ninth.
Elsewhere there were five brand new entries, including Marty O'Donnell & Michael Salvatori's music for Halo 3, Gustavo Santaolalla's score to The Last of Us, and Koji Kondo's iconic themes to The Legend of Zelda. Austin Wintory of Journey and The Banner Saga fame was the only unlucky game composer to drop out of the charts.
Ralph Vaughan Williams' Lark Ascending was voted the nation's favourite piece for the second year running.
